Erdafitinib (Balversa)

The Basics:

Erdafitinib (brand name – Balversa) is FDA-approved to treat adults with urothelial cancer (cancer of the lining of the bladder and other parts of the urinary tract) that has spread to nearby tissues or other parts of the body.

Erdafitinib is a “kinase inhibitor.” It works by blocking the action of an abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps slow or stop the spread of cancer cells.

The most common side effects of the drug are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abnormal phosphorous level in blood, eye dryness, skin rash, and nail problems.

Let’s walk you through the most essential and all the information you need to know about this treatment.
