Capecitabine (Xeloda) & Oxaliplatin (Capox)

Capecitabine (brand name- Xeloda) and Oxaliplatin (brand name-Capox) are FDA-approved treatments for rectal, breast, and colon cancer. They are part of chemotherapy medications. They help slow down the growth and kill cancer by damaging the DNA of rapidly dividing cells.

How should I take Capecitabine (Xeloda) & Oxaliplatin (Capox)?

Your nurse or doctor will discuss your treatment plan with you. Capecitabine comes as tablets. Always take tablets exactly as explained to make sure they work as well as possible.

Take capecitabine tablets twice a day, about 12 hours apart. Swallow them whole with a glass of water within half an hour of eating a meal. Capecitabine works best when broken down in the stomach with food. Take them in the morning after breakfast and then after the evening meal.

Talk to your doctor about how you are feeling during your treatment. Do not stop taking treatment without talking to your doctor. You can help them by tracking your side effects in Ankr.

Tell your doctor if you find it difficult to swallow the tablets. Your doctor may advise you other methods of taking treatment.

If you forget to take a tablet, do not take a double dose. Keep to your regular schedule and let your doctor or nurse know.
